Trading Post is a classic American restaurant and bar, nestled into a gorgeous cobblestone corner of the Financial District in New York City. The simplicity of our menu hides the innovation behind it. Think New York sirloin with pepper sauce, a range of fresh seafood, extensive raw bar, fresh salads - all reimagined, elevated and made extraordinary. 

 

You’ll find Trading Post on the corner of John and South Streets in Manhattan’s South Street Seaport district. The Brooklyn Bridge sits outside our window. The FDR runs overhead. Wall Street is a few short blocks south.

 

The Financial District is a marvel – jigsaw streets, early American architecture, colossal skyscrapers. New York City was born here. We live here. As locals, we were surprised to discover that our corner of this vibrant neighborhood lacked a basic cultural necessity: an upscale, welcoming, food-first American restaurant. So we created Trading Post.

 

Historically, “trading posts” (to borrow a definition) were “places for people to meet and exchange the news of the world” at a time before newspapers. We’ve brought a modern touch to the concept: chic, stylish minimalism, sumptuous leather, dark woods, private nooks and a sense of intimacy and calm in the midst of the Wall Street bustle.

 

Enter and you’ll find our main bar and an expansive, open ground floor. (We have room for you and yours.) Downstairs you’ll find our cellar bar, original stone walls and more experimental cocktails. Upstairs you’ll find a second seating area and views of the Seaport’s tall ships, the Brooklyn Bridge, the East River and the Brooklyn waterfront. We’re a stone’s throw from Pier 15, a sweeping waterfront esplanade. Come by, grab some food or a drink then enjoy Pier 15’s grass as the ferries sail past. Or spend the day with us, relaxing, laughing and letting the world spin past without you.
